Description

A serious arterial bleed can result in death in a matter of minutes.  Even in urban centers, EMS response times across the US average 7-15 minutes.  This is why it is so important that everyone gains a solid understanding of how to properly control severe bleeding.  Taught in accordance with the “Stop the Bleed” initiative by the US Department of Defense, this course covers:

• The circulatory system and its functions
• Patient assessment and how to prioritize life threatening bleeding
• How and when to apply direct pressure, tourniquets, wound packing, and pressure bandages
• Use of realistic wound packing task trainers and practical medical simulations done in a real world setting
