Description
Our 16-hour WFA (Wilderness First Aid) class provides two full days of engaging & interactive medical education, tailored to the backcountry environment. This is the perfect class for those who desire a comprehensive wilderness medical class, but are unable to commit to a full Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course. The 16-hour WFA curriculum covers every major topic in wilderness medicine, in accordance with the most up-to-date guidelines from the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS).
Whether you are an experienced healthcare provider or are looking to take your first ever WFA class, this training will provide you the necessary skills to look after your loved ones in the backcountry in case of emergency.
COURSE INCLUDES:
- Patient assessment skills, including realistic medical/ trauma simulations
- Basic Life Support/CPR
- Treating massive hemorrhaging
- Head injuries, shock, other traumatic injuries such as fractured ribs
- Environmental challenges (Heat, Cold, Lightning etc.)
- Patient transport
- Toxins, bites, & stings
- Splinting
- Wound care, burns
- Medical patient assessment
