Description

Outdoor recreation can often bring injuries, and knowing what to do to properly care for your friend or loved one far away from help is an irreplaceable skill.  Our 16 hour WFA class provides two full days of engaging & interactive medical education, tailored to the backcountry environment.  This is the perfect class for those who desire a comprehensive wilderness medical class, but are unable to commit to a full Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course.  The 16 hour WFA curriculum covers every major topic in wilderness medicine, in accordance with the most up to date guidelines from the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS).

We’ll learn:

  • Patient assessment skills, including realistic medical/ trauma simulations
  • Basic Life Support/ CPR
  • Treating massive hemorrhaging
  • Head injuries, shock, other traumatic injuries such as fractured ribs
  • Environmental challenges (Heat, Cold, Lightning etc.)
  • Patient transport
  • Toxins, bites, & stings
  • Splinting
  • Wound care, burns
  • Medical patient assessment

Becoming a confident wilderness medical provider involves being well-versed with many skills that are almost never taught in typical first aid courses. Whether you are an experienced healthcare provider, or are looking to take your first ever WFA class, this training will provide you the necessary skills to look after your loved ones in the backcountry in case of emergency.
